The capitals of the columns of the mandala city are decorated with volutes, which now directly support the circle of interlocking spirals. The four doorways are illumined, as in the mandala I drew in the summer of 1996. The floor of the city is divided into four portions (the colors--white, red, yellow, and black--suggested by my reading of Black Elk) and trace a sacred hoop around the interior of the mandala, which has become a temenos for me.
